The Douglas A-1 (formerly AD) Skyraider was a U.S. single-seat attack bomber of the 1950s, 1960s and early 1970s. A propeller-driven anachronism in the jet age, the Skyraider had a remarkably long and successful career well into the space age, and inspired a straight-winged, slow-flying, jet-powered successor which is still in front line service today, the A-10 Warthog.

Armament:

  • Guns: 4 נ20 mm (0.787 in) cannon

  • Other: Up to 8,000 lb (3,600 kg) of ordnance on 15 external hardpoints including bombs, torpedoes, mine dispensers, unguided rockets, or gun pods

Craftsmen with over 30 years of experience gave life to the A-1H Skyraider USAF "Spad Dad" through this meticulously hand-carved mahogany wood desktop model plane. Scaled from an exact blueprint, this work of art was lavishly hand-painted with great concern for details and accuracy. A wood base and a brief history plate go with this desktop model plane.

Love the Blues? What if you had the BIGGEST Blue Angels wood model airplane around? Only Mastercraft modelers lets you have an upsized, upscale Blue Angel!

HUGE mahogany wood model airplane. BIGGER and more detailed than the regular models available in the market today, for a lot less!

Love the Blues? What if you had the BIGGEST Blue Angels wood model airplane around? Only Mastercraft Collectors lets you have an upsized, upscale Blue Angel! All-new and made available only through MASTERCRAFT, this immense, 19-and-a-quarter-inch long BIG WINGS series F-18C "Blue Angels" Hornet wood model airplane is handcarved from mahogany wood and hand-painted. With a wingspan of about 13 inches, this big wood model airplane of the famous showbird is definitely larger than a regular-sized F-18 Hornet. Go Big now!

This particular big airplane model is from the FIRST production run of the BIG WING series F-18C "Blue Angels" Hornet . It is marked accordingly.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The United States Navy's Blue Angels or Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, formed in 1946, is the world's first officially-sanctioned military aerial demonstration team. The United States Air Force has its own demonstration squadron, the Thunderbirds, which began operations in 1953.

The Blue Angels first flew three aircraft in formation, then four, and currently operate six aircraft per show. A seventh aircraft is for backup, in the event of mechanical problems with one of the other aircraft, and for giving public relations "demonstration flights" to civilians, usually selected from a press pool.

This aerobatic team is split into "the Diamond" (Blue Angels 1 through 4) and the Opposing Solos (Blue Angels 5 and 6). Most of their displays alternate between maneuvers performed by the Diamond and those performed by the Solos.

The Diamond, in tight formation and usually at lower speeds, performs maneuvers such as formation loops, barrel rolls, or transitions from one formation to another.

The Opposing Solos usually perform maneuvers just under the speed of sound which showcase the capabilities of their individual F/A-18s through the execution of high-speed passes, slow passes, fast rolls, slow rolls, and very tight turns. Some of the maneuvers include both solo F/A-18s performing at once, such as opposing passes (toward each other in what appears to be a collision course, narrowly missing one another) and mirror formations (back-to-back. belly-to-belly, or wingtip-to-wingtip, with one jet flying inverted).

At the end of the routine, all six aircraft join in the Delta formation. After a series of flat passes, turns, loops, and rolls performed in this formation, they execute the team's signature "fleur-de-lis" closing maneuver.

The parameters of each show must be tailored to local visibility: in clear weather the "high" show is performed, in overcast conditions it is the "low" show that the spectators see, and in limited visibility (weather permitting) the "flat" show is presented. The "high" show requires an 8,000 foot ceiling and visibility of three nautical miles from the show's centerpoint. "Low" and "flat" ceilings are 3,500 and 1,500 feet respectively .

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a multi-role jet fighter airplane developed by General Dynamics in the United States. Designed as a lightweight fighter, it evolved into a successful multi-role airplane. The Falcon's versatility is a paramount reason it was a success on the export market, serving 24 countries. The F-16 is the largest and probably most significant current Western fighter program, with over 4,000 airplanes built since production started in 1976. Though no longer produced for the United States Air Force, it is still produced for export.

The Fighting Falcon is regarded as a superb dogfighter, with innovations including a frameless canopy for better visibility, side-mounted control stick to ease control while under high g-load, and reclined seat to reduce g-effects on the pilot. It was also the first fighter aircraft to be deliberately built to be able to sustain 9 g turns. Although the F-16's official name is "Fighting Falcon", it is known to its pilots as the "Viper", after the Battlestar Galactica starfighter.
